Overview:
Summer Interns complete a 10 week internship centered around professional development, career growth and building the necessary skills to succeed. Summer Interns participate in projects and department initiatives that accelerate career growth and play an important role in building the future of the Bank. As an Intern, you will gain exposure to other departments through guest speakers and industry leaders and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank.
About the Team:
This team works behind the scenes to support leadership development programs across the organization. They focus on helping future and current leaders grow by designing learning programs centered on compliance, leadership skills, and customer‑focused solutions. The team partners with business areas across the bank, giving exposure to how leadership development connects to real business needs and process improvements.
About the Internship:
This internship is a great opportunity for students interested in learning and development, leadership, research, and organizational growth. Interns will gain hands‑on, project‑based experience while working closely with leadership development program managers. Projects may include researching leadership development programs, exploring emerging learning technology, reviewing adult learning trends, and identifying ways the organization can continue to evolve its leadership offerings. Interns will build professional skills, collaborate with experienced team members, and present research‑based recommendations that support the future of leadership development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank.
- Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
- Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
