About this role

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Accelerated Development Program is designed as a 9–12-month assignment to assist the site EHS Manager with day-to-day Safety-Focused tasks and special projects. The program participant manages their own projects to assist the team in achieving goals.  This role is intended to start in July 2026.

 

Responsibilities

The EHS Specialist ADP participant is “hosted” by the Global Supply Chain Organizational Development Department and participants are matched with one of our manufacturing or distribution facilities.  

Position Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the EHS Manager with:

  • Assigned daily tasks.
  • Working mid to large scale projects
  • Participating in further developmental activities that will allow them to continue to learn about the Safety function including:  
    • attending the Company & Division EHS orientation,
    • reviewing the EHS matrix,
    • participating in an audit,
    • conducting an incident investigation,
    • becoming familiar with environmental practices,
    • participating in a VPP certification or re-certification,
  • Developing site safety plans.  
  • Participate in appropriate on the job Safety activities for professional development.
  • Learn to manage site safety Observations and hazard tracking systems.
  • Foster a positive safety culture through professional and proactive interactions with employees.  

 

Qualifications

Formal Education:

Required:

  • Have a bachelor's degree by the start of this development program (January or June 2026)
  • Be willing to relocate for the position AND upon completion of the program 
  • Be open to relocating Post Program for targeted roles 
  • Have a minimum overall GPA of 2.8 
  • Be at least 18 years of age  

Preferred:

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, or related majors

 

Knowledge & Experience:

Required:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Power Point

Preferred:

  • Previous Internship/Co-op experience within Sherwin-Williams.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations or VPP programs  
  • Previous Internship, Co-op or work experience in a related field  
  • Leadership experience as demonstrated by your involvement in extracurricular activities on campus or in the community
