As a Systems Engineering Intern within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities Organization you will interface with the multiple disciplined Engineers, working closely to follow and adhere to the Program’s developed CONOPS, system architecture, system requirements and manage qualification, verification and validation. Our center focuses on back end Sustainment as well as transitioning systems through integration and test from production to warranty/sustainment. You will also perform functional / physical analysis, allocation, and trade studies where applicable.

You will also support application of these engineering principles by utilizing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques to solve complex technical problems.  You will contribute to the development and application of MBSE to improve system design, integration and program execution.

What You Will Do

  • Support development of system models using SysML in MBSE tools
  • Assist with creation of system architecture models, including requirements, interfaces, behaviors, and structural views
  • Support digital engineering initiatives such as connecting models, requirements and analysis artifacts

  • Assist in analyzing system models to identify traceability, interface relationships, and design impacts
  • Develop dashboarding capabilities to make decisions utilizing authoritative modeling formats
  • Contribute to development of model-based workflows, templates, and plugins
  • Participate in technical reviews and engineering team discussions
  • Support integration of data-driven engineering approaches and model analytics where applicable
  • Apply data-driven engineering approaches to solve complex multi-disciplinary problems throughout engineering lifecycle

Qualifications You Must Have

  • This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher) degree program in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and will be at minimum entering their sophomore year by the start of summer 2026
  • Academic or internship experience that includes managing of data and database items
  • Exposure to data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Office, Python, MATLAB and/or C++

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Ability to learn new tools and engineering methods quickly, including curiosity about complex systems and digital engineering transformations
  • Experience or coursework in Systems Engineering
  • Extracurricular involvement in school groups/clubs and/or the community
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Basic understanding on how radar systems are developed and function
  • Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
  • Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills Self-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems
  • Proven strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to problem solve and seek out additional resources

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
