701-Human Resources - 1426-701 HR Generalist

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction, responsible for assisting the personnel function within company, including compliance with laws and regulations concerning personnel, interviewing and special projects. Work involves regular contact with other divisions, departments and residents; performs related work as required.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources office at the direction of the Human Resources Director. Assists with employee events.

 

Anticipates business needs, thinks proactively and responds appropriately. Manages multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a sense of urgency and results orientation. Ability to learn new systems quickly and create improved efficiency.

 

HR Generalist Staffing

Handles talent management processes to promote a culture of high performance, continuous growth and development. Responsible for the advertising and recruitment of staff, conducting interviews and pre-employment assessments. Monitors and tracks recruitment budgets.

 

Ensures proper maintenance of confidential employee information. Produces and analyzes HR reports on staffing and other subjects.

 

Facilitates onboarding process and conducts new hire employee orientations and related training as part of the process.

 

Creates and maintains employee handbooks, job descriptions and other related materials to ensure information is current and compliant with state and federal regulations; consults with management to record changes in duties and or assist in developing new job descriptions.   

 

Facilities and maintains the employee employment referral program and assists with employee recognition events. 

 

HR Generalist Benefit and Leave Administration

Administers the employee benefit programs including health plans, life insurance plans, pre-tax benefits, and 401(k) Employee Savings Plan to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations; works closely with brokers/consultants to survey, obtain coverage trends, options and costs; develops recommendations for approval and redesigns.

 

Processes documents necessary for the implementation of various benefit programs and maintains such records as are necessary; maintains accurate computerized personnel information by adding, updating and deleting data on HRIS in a timely manner. Ensures data integrity and identifies opportunities for improvement.  Detects, troubleshoots and resolves data anomalies in a time critical environment.

 

Assists with the administration of employee workers compensation leaves and other absences. 

 

Generates various management and ad hoc reports as related to benefits administration and as requested by Director and HR Supervisor. 

 

Regular attendance required.  All duties are performed on-site for the Community.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides support for the coordination, communication and reporting of employee training events and certifications. 

 

Drives a vehicle to meetings, workshops, and other job related responsibilities.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

Computer, telephone, printer, fax machine, calculator and copier.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a climate-controlled indoor office and exposed to normal outdoor elements.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Bachelor’s degree or HR Certification preferred. 

Experience in business and general clerical/office work or equivalent combination of education and experience which produces the following:

 

  • Knowledge of the computer and applicable software programs to perform the job including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of current office equipment practices systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling and vocabulary.
  • Knowledge of the organization and functions of the corporation.
  • Knowledge of the safety hazards and necessary precautions of the job.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and practices, personnel policy and procedure usage.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to be very detailed with a high-level of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain rules and regulations.
  • Ability to compose correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain complex records and to prepare reports and answer questions from records.
  • Ability to answer by phone or in person a wide variety of questions and concerns of employees.
  • Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:                                                        

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, grasp, feel and reach.  The employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and use repetitive motion to operate a keyboard for long periods.  The employee is occasionally required to kneel, pull, push, stoop, and lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

 

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:     

 

While performing the duties of this job the employee reads, solves problems, uses verbal and written communication skills and handles frequent employee contact and interruptions.
