Role Overview

An ideal candidate will poses the necessary critical thinking skills to sufficiently research the status of an invoice payment, the communication skills to appropriately convey required actions or protocols to DNR vendors and staff, and the organizational skills to effectively track multiple projects, tasks, and issues to ensure completion and resolution.   


Salary Statement

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $37,648.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

 

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Review, validate, and process claim vouchers to ensure comleteness, accuracy, and compliance with State and Division requirements.  
  • Verify accuracy of all financial documents and records.
  • Ensure timely submission of claim vouchers to avoid payment delays and reduce rework.
  • Identify errors or inconsistencies in documentationand follow up for correction.
  • Maintain organized records and supporting documentation for audit and tracking purposes. 
  • Monitor workflow and prioritize tasks to manage high-volume processing efficiently.
  • Assist in improving processes by identifying recurring issuesand recommending practical solutions. 
  • Provide support to internal staff regarding voucher requirements and submission expectations.  
  • Ensure required documentation and approvals are in place prior to voucher submission.
  • Prepare, edit, and verify electronic data processing entries and documents.
  • Recommend changes in accounting policies and assists in developing accounting procedures.

What You'll Need for Success:

Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

  • Strong attention to detail and abilty to identify errors or missing information.
  • Foundational knowledge of agency function and organization.
  • Foundational knowledge of automated accounting systems.
  • Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow established processes and maintain consistency in a high-volume environment.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend modifications to existing accounting methods and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate and concise reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Basic familiarity with accounting or financial processes preferred. 
  • Effective communication skills.
