Accountant – Administration
Salary Range: $49,753.60 - $74,630.40

Job Summary: This position supports the Accounting Supervisor – Operations with invoicing, recording, and collecting approximately $90–$100 million in revenue. Responsibilities include recording monthly reserve entries to ADF and CFC, as well as recording interagency rents and labor revenue. Additionally, the position is responsible for reconciling various balance sheet accounts, serving as the central contact for airport purchasing and procurement, providing related support, processing purchasing transactions, and researching and resolving open encumbrances, carryovers, and year-end expense accruals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Departmental Purchasing and Procurement: The airport processes over $25 million annually in commodity, utility, and service expenses and manages more than 20 professional services contracts. This position enters purchase requests, monitors approval levels, resolves request errors, issues PO receipts, and coordinates vendor maintenance and new vendor setups with Central Accounts Payable and Procurement. The role analyzes and resolves items on the open receivers and 7‑Day invoice reports, serves as the primary resource for airport purchasing and procurement inquiries, and supports processing during staff shortages. Quarterly, the position reviews and acts on open operating encumbrances, and annually it does the same for both operating and capital encumbrances.
- Monthly Reserve entries and interagency rents: Recording monthly journal entries for reserve revenue additions to the ADF, CIRA, and CFC reserves.
- Passenger Parking Refunds: Process passenger-related parking refunds through the Elavon and Windcave payment systems. Other duties as assigned
- Petty Cash: Serves as the custodian of the main operating petty cash box and processes reimbursement receipts in accordance with county guidelines.
- Journal Entry: Prepare the monthly journal entry for Highway and Fleet Management to record the interagency rent allocation, based on the annual file provided by the Budget Department
- Other Duties and Support: Perform year-end reconciliations and provide general accounting support to the department during staff shortages, vacations, and other absences. Responsibilities also include coding miscellaneous AP invoices with the correct accounting string and routing them to Central A/P for approval (e.g., City of Milwaukee, WE Energies, AT&T), as well as processing check requests and related tasks.
- Additional Projects and Duties as assigned: Perform additional projects and duties as assigned, including occasional expense account reclassification journal entries in INFOR.
Minimum Education and Years of Experience Required:
- Current resident of the State of Wisconsin
- Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance or closely related field
- At least One (1) year of Bookkeeping or Accounting experience
- Intermediate Knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and Excel spreadsheets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: The ability to maintain good working relationships with airport customers, other departments, and airport employees. Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures; knowledge of office practices and procedures; supervisory skills; skill in performing mathematical computations; analytical and organizational skills; problem solving skills; skill in analysis and reconciliation of various general ledger balances and accounts; skill in using a personal computer; data processing skills; skills in creating spread sheets; skill in planning, preparing and performing accounting tasks; oral and written communication skills; ability to operate a ten-key calculator; ability to read and interpret data processing printouts; ability to accurately compile and maintain a wide variety of statistical and accounting records for internal and external usability; ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others.
