Position Introduction:

This position serves as a key financial resource for a department or college, providing comprehensive accounting support to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective financial management. The role encompasses account reconciliation, financial reporting, budget support, data maintenance, and payroll coordination, contributing to the overall integrity of departmental operations.

Responsibilities include reconciling accounts by reviewing financial transactions and ensuring alignment between system reports and source documentation, such as accounts payable, deposits, and interdepartmental activity. The incumbent prepares and delivers detailed financial statements that reflect monthly activity, including section-level and consolidated reports, and identifies and communicates any discrepancies for resolution and appropriate approval.

The position monitors departmental accounts and spending activity, processes budget and cost transfers, and prepares requisitions and invoices within PeopleSoft. It also supports daily financial operations by managing deposits and maintaining accurate records of transactions, contracts, and agreements.

In collaboration with departments, principal investigators, and vendors, this role provides guidance on financial matters, ensuring appropriate use of funds and adherence to established policies and contractual obligations. The incumbent conducts financial analyses to support reporting needs, improve processes, and inform decision-making, and plays an active role in the annual budget preparation process.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining the accuracy and quality of financial data through regular review and investigation of discrepancies, as well as serving as a payroll coordinator or backup to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
