Within this environment, the Accountant, Corporate Financial Accounting and Reporting role sits on the Corporate Accounting team within the T. Rowe Price Controller’s Group. This position plays an important role in supporting the firm’s financial accounting and reporting activities through the preparation and posting of journal entries, performance of balance sheet account reconciliations, support of the monthly accounting ledger close and variance analysis, and preparation of certain regulatory reporting filings. The role also helps reinforce a strong internal control environment by performing responsibilities within a SOX framework and contributes to the firm’s continued focus on efficiency and control effectiveness through the use of AI-enabled, data analytic, and workflow tools.
Role Summary
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to core accounting and reporting activities that support the firm’s financial integrity and operational effectiveness. The Accountant will support an assigned accounting process and/or T. Rowe Price Group subsidiary or branch of smaller size and limited complexity, executing key responsibilities across accounting, reporting, and close activities. This includes completing assigned accounting processes, entity-level responsibilities, and ad hoc assignments related to basic accounting and reporting needs.
The role requires a foundational understanding of accounting guidance, policies, and regulations relevant to assigned areas, along with accountability for delivering high-quality, accurate, and complete work. By supporting day-to-day accounting operations and contributing to the achievement of team objectives, this position plays a meaningful role in maintaining a strong financial control environment and enabling effective reporting across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assists with end-to-end accounting processes and research required to transform data into information for reporting purposes. Activities may include processing less complex general ledger events and transactions; compiling and analyzing data used to prepare financial statements, management reporting, or regulatory reporting; assisting with continuous improvement activities such as the analysis of exceptions; providing support for audits; and completing assigned tasks to support the maintenance of the control environment.
- With direct guidance, gathers, reconciles, and analyzes data to complete journal entries, performs basic reconciliations of general ledger accounts, prepares daily reports, and supports analyses.
- Participates in the implementation of financial system modifications to comply with revised reporting, accounting, and accounting process policies, procedures, and more substantial regulatory changes.
- Contributes to the identification and reporting of risks, gaps in reporting, patterns, or recurring issues. With guidance, ensures proper controls are implemented and followed for respective areas.
- Assists with assignments across lines of business, legal entities, and geographies that have an impact on internal/external reporting, accounting policies, and accounting processes. Assignments may include assisting with the implementation of new or revised reporting, accounting, and accounting process policies, procedures, and reporting templates in order to provide effective financial planning, accounting, and reporting of financial information.
- Pursuit of intellectual curiosity both in accounting subject matters, business knowledge, and emerging technology capabilities such as AI.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- 0-2 years of total relevant work experience
- Proficient in Excel and PC-based business tools
- Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset, with high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Preferred:
- CPA track or intent to pursue CPA certification.
- Strong intellectual curiosity
- Demonstrated interest in AI, data analytics and workflow technology
- Experience with journal entries, general ledger, account reconciliations, financial statements, regulatory reporting filings, audits and/or SOX controls.
