Accountant - Geospatial Business Unit

NV5 is seeking an Accountant to support the Geospatial Division within NV5.  The Accountant role is an entry-level position responsible for supporting routine accounting activities and developing foundational accounting skills. This role works under close supervision and follows established procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Work Environment:

• NV5/TiC Regional Office in Sun Prairie, WI or Houston, TX
• Standard business hours with occasional overtime during peak periods (e.g., month-end, year-end)
• Limited travel (10–15%) to regional offices as needed

• Assist with preparation and posting of basic journal entries
• Perform routine account reconciliations and follow up on variances
• Support month-end close tasks, including data gathering and schedules
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation
• Assist with accounts payable/receivable activities as needed
• Support audit requests by compiling required information
• Follow established internal controls, policies, and procedures
• Other work duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Basic understanding of accounting principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn accounting systems
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Good organizational and time management skills
• Effective communication and ability to work in a team environment

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 0–2 years of relevant accounting or internship experience
• Interest in pursuing a CPA designation considered an asset
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project-centric ERP systems.
• Familiarity with government contracting (FAR, CAS, DCAA) if applicable.
