Job Summary
The Accountant I will report to the General Ledger Supervisor and will assist with fundamental accounting tasks. Responsibilities include supporting daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities such as preparing journal entries, conducting accounting reconciliations, aiding in month-end close processes, and assisting with payroll and healthcare analysis. This entry-level role requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities and Tasks 
  • Assist in uploading and analyzing of payroll, healthcare data needed to import into Oracle.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close by recording financial transactions.
  • Assist with documentation of month-end close, including analyzing and explaining variances to budget as well as prior periods.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts to subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly recurring and adjusting journal entries.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end audit reviews.
  • Assist with implementation of process improvements and procedures.
  • Help maintain effective internal controls and procedures to assist with year-end SOX testing.
  • Collaborate on Ad hoc projects request to support Corporate Controller and other departments.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience & License or Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; or associates degree in accounting or finance with at least 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Accounting background, entry to mid-level experience required.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.\Working knowledge of PC systems required.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.

Skills and Abilities
  • U.S Citizenship is required
  • Government contracting experience highly desirable.
  • Intermediate MS Excel knowledge (i.e. vlookup, pivot tables, etc., etc.).
  • Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, be organized, and work in a team environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis.
  • Experience with Oracle EBS desirable.
  • Wide area workflow highly desirable.
