Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

ACCOUNTING ANALYST I

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) Accounting Analyst is responsible for the accurate preparation, review, and timely filing of Canadian GST returns and related indirect tax reports for multiple entities. This role ensures compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, performs account reconciliations, supports audits, and contributes to process improvements to strengthen internal tax controls and minimize risk exposure

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Review, prepare, and timely filing of GST returns for multiple entities.
  • Prepare and submit monthly uploads, journal vouchers for allocations and FX adjustments.
  • Accurately calculate monthly ITC for several legal entities on CRA GST/HST returns.
  • Reconcile monthly CBSA transactions, Statement of Account, and customs broker invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigate and resolve GST related issues with the Canada Revenue Agency, PSM, LMD, customs brokers and business divisions.
  • Maintain detailed records on transactions, invoices, and tax payments.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable GST laws and regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist on various special projects and assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in indirect tax or sales tax compliance, including preparation or support of Canadian GST/HST filings, tax account reconciliations, and analysis of transaction data from ERP systems. CPA firm or tax compliance experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of GST tax concept and ITC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Power Point, Word).
  • Strong analytical skill and attention to detail.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a team player.

EDUCATION

  • B.S in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation
