POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Analyst position is in the Office of the Controller. This is administrative/professional work in general accounting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for a range of accounting functions within the Controller’s Office, including:

Preparation of journal entries

Preparation of invoices for external parties

Assisting with inventory accounting

Providing support to Post Award Services

Providing support in the preparation of the University’s annual Form 990

Daily accounting file transfers and imports to Banner

Conducts variance analysis for accounts included in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Responsible for the timely preparation and completion of various year end schedules and work papers used by the independent auditors in conjunction with their examination of the university’s financial statements.

Carries out regular and ad hoc projects, as assigned by the supervisor.

Completes other duties as assigned.



REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution.

Preferred qualifications:

Prior work experience in higher education or related non-profit accounting environment.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as it pertains to not for profits, specifically FAS 116 and FAS 117;

Working knowledge of other general accounting principles;

Ability and knowledge of general accounting routines;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software;

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines;

Ability to understand and willingness to support the University Mission Statement.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
