Hull and Company is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team in Tampa or St. Petersburg, FL! 

 

The Accounting Clerk supports daily insurance accounting operations by processing payments and deposits, managing inquiries and documentation, coordinating commissions and statements, assisting with tax and compliance tasks, and providing cross‑trained support to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient financial administration.

 

How You Will Contribute: 

  • Sort, distribute, and process incoming accounting mail; research returned or non-deliverable mail and reissue as appropriate.
  • Organize, log, and forward checks received in-office to the lockbox.
  • Post daily GeoVera cash deposits.
  • Monitor and manage accounting inquiry email inbox(es); research and respond to inquiries as appropriate.
  • Respond to agent inquiries regarding account balances and commission payments; assist with issue resolution and provide commission remittances as needed.
  • Generate monthly statement files and maintain producer email listings, including updates to commission statement delivery addresses.
  • Handle proof of mailing processing for Southeast NOC monthly tasks.
  • Print and mail surplus lines tax account checks.
  • Assist with 1099 preparation, including obtaining and updating W-9s from retail agents and coordinating updates with the producer maintenance team.
  • Assist with call-back verifications for completed ACH authorization form changes.
  • Assist with other GeoVera-related accounting and administrative functions, as needed.
  • Cross-train in accounting functions to provide coverage during vacations, illness, or other absences.

Skills & Experience to be Successful: 
 

  • Exceptional telephone and professional communication skills; able to interact confidently and courteously with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Highly detailed-oriented with demonstrated accuracy in high-volume, transaction-based environments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and work efficiently to meet daily deadlines.
  • Demonstrates confidence and sound judgment when handling routine and time sensitive tasks.
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Minimum education or prior job experience- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
