About the Department

Salary: $15.00/hr. minimum - $16.63/hr. midpoint (Depending on qualifications)  

To perform accounting clerical work in accounts receivable and payable; to assist in the maintenance of related accounting information for customers; and to provide clerical support to division staff.

SUPERVISION
 
General supervision is provided by the Accounting Supervisor.

Position Duties

  1. All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. 
  2. Prepare, maintain and update various records; verify and distribute information as requested; photocopy, mail or fax materials as necessary. 
  3. Provide clerical support to assist designated division staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities. 
  4. Answer questions and provide information to the public; receive citizen and client complaints and questions and refer to appropriate division staff member for resolution.
  5. Process invoices and prepare documentation for payments.
  6. Update, maintain, and manage system vendor information; and reconcile payment statements made by vendors.
  7. Complete daily mail runs for the accounting department.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. May maintain various registers and journals according to established account classifications; prepare correcting or adjusting entries as necessary.
  2. Prepare a variety of correspondence, reports, public notices and documents as assigned.
  3. Order and maintain office supplies and associated materials.
  4. Input information into personal computer application as needed.
  5. Assist the department with various tasks in relation to month and year end procedures.
  6. Provide assistance with 1099 and unclaimed funding processes.
  7. Provide assistance and monitor the shared departmental email; and receive and make calls sent to the general department. 
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION 

High School Diploma or GED.

Associate degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE 

One to two years of accounts payable or general accounting and bookkeeping experience.

WORK SCHEDULE

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
