Description of Work

Salary Grade - NC02 Salary Range $31,200.00-$51,249.00

This position is located at Wilkes Correctional Center in North Wilkesboro, NC (Wilkes County) Wilkes Correctional Center is a Minimum Custody Male Facility

Position Summary
This position is responsible for the maintenance, oversight, and reporting of financial accounting data, with a primary focus on Purchasing and Accounts Payable. The role also supports additional accounting functions, including Trust Fund accounting and canteen reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain and monitor financial accounting records related to purchasing
and payables

Process requisitions, warehouse purchases, and contract vendor transactions in compliance with established procedures

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial data and reporting

Perform Trust Fund accounting and maintain associated records and files

Prepare and submit required weekly and monthly Accounting and Trust Fund reports within strict deadlines

Maintain procurement, payables, and Trust Fund files, logs, and documentation

Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, resolve issues, and ensure accuracy

Interpret and apply departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines

Ensure uniform accounting procedures are consistently followed

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC02.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
