Work with a purpose! El Valle Detention Facility located in Raymondville, Texas, is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside.
Position Summary:
Reports to the accounting supervisor. Responsible for performing a variety of routine accounting duties in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Post routine journal vouchers or accounts payable vouchers, entering vouchers in registers; post subsidiary ledgers or simple cost accounting data.
2. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data.
3. Responsible for maintenance of routine accounting records and reports in accordance with established procedures such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory control or general accounting records.
4. Responsible for petty cash.
5. Perform miscellaneous clerical duties involving typing, filing, accumulating data and preparation of repetitive reports.
6. Regular attendance is required.
7. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
8. Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of varied and responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience required. Academic training in bookkeeping, accounting desired. Experience with automated accounting systems or programs preferred. Must successfully complete required pre service training. Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
