Position Summary:
Performs varied clerical accounting related to providing accurate financial information to staff accountants and/or supervisors.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Works within established standards/guidelines and procedures in processing a variety of transactions in general accounting. These include, but are not limited to, upload of entries, review and post general journal entries, approve and post cost transfers, and approve and post check reissuances.
2. Resolves discrepancies in reconciliations through interaction with appropriate individuals or departments.
3. Assist in the monthly close of the general ledger.
4. Assist in the monthly close of FMS modules feeding into the general ledger.
5. Prepare reconciliations on a recurring basis, which include, but are not limited to, bank, investment and balance sheet accounts.
6. Prepare entries to record transactions in the general ledger, which include, but are not limited to, returned checks and accruals.
7. Process and prepare required documentation related to unclaimed property.
8. Assist in testing during FMS upgrades and image applications.
9. May prepare reports summarizing financial activity.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
None
Minimum Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year of related experience in a financial or accounting area. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
