As the Accounting Co-op, you will be responsible for ensuring financial related information is accurately reflected in the financial records in accordance with accepted accounting principles and the firm’s prescribed policies. Additional responsibilities include regulatory reporting and tax schedules. 

 

What you do: 

  • Prepare a variety of financial transactions and reporting including but not limited to daily cash reports, balance sheet reconciliations (and resolves any reconciling as needed), and journal entries

  • Reconcile and analyze the financial activity for selected general ledger accounts each month and investigates large and unusual transactions

  • Prepare tax return for several states 

  • Help pull together process documentation to support current procedures

  • Support the accounting team with day-to-day banking transactions 

  • Key team member in preparing year end schedules and analyses for the external auditors and tax preparers for domestic and international entities

  • Research unclaimed property, which includes tracking and researching stale checks, sending due diligence letters, and filing annual reports with each state

  • Document current procedures and recommend ways to improve internal controls and productivity

  • Provide back-up for other team members

    Who you are:  

    • Ability to communicate with all levels of the firm professionally

    • Ability to provide a high level of customer service in a fast-paced environment

    • Ability to handle a high volume of tasks while maintaining attention to detail and prioritizing, as necessary

    • Ability to understand, adhere and apply department policies and procedures

    • Ability to learn and work with accounting software (Aderant Expert)

    • Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly with Excel

    • Working toward obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
