Great American Financial Division co-ops quickly become an integral part of our accounting and finance team. Our multi-semester rotational program allows students to experience several departments in our organization by working in a new area each semester. This position consists of a full semester in up to four different departments such as Corporate Accounting, Investment Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Treasury.
The co-op will begin in Fall 2026 and is based in our Cincinnati, OH headquarters. This co-op will require students to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
Corporate Accounting Department
- Prepare schedules to support the monthly consolidated financial statements.
- Prepare monthly tax provisions and book general ledger entries.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of the monthly earnings packages.
- Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
Investment Accounting Department
- Prepare monthly closing package and supporting schedules, including cash and inventory reconciliations, for multiple subsidiaries.
- Record investment income and carrying values into the subsidiaries’ general ledgers.
- Analysis of investment results and investigation of variances.
- Prepare annual/ quarterly statutory-basis statements and filings.
Financial Reporting Department
- Assist in the preparation of AFG’s SEC forms 10-K, 10-Q and 13-F, including preparation of supporting documentation.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for the AFG managed collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) that are required to be included in AFG’s consolidated financial statements.
- Proofread and perform other clerical duties related to the preparation of AFG’s SEC forms 10-K and/or 10-Q.
- Prepare and/or review various internal management reports using Excel, the Company’s general ledger system, and SEC reporting system.
Treasury Department
- Support bank account reconciliations and transaction monitoring.
- Assist with bank account maintenance, including updating authorized signers and bank services.
- Help maintain and update supplier payment methods.
- Support the creation and review of supplier invoices for accuracy and coding.
- Help with data validation and cleanup in Excel or ERP systems.
- Participate in treasury transformation or system upgrade projects.
Job Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week during the fall 2026 semester.
- 3.5 or higher GPA is preferred, but not required.
