Job Description:
Examples of Work
- Reviews payment and deposit batches for accuracy and completeness
- Maintains accurate accounts receivable records and supports timely collection of invoices
- Creates purchase orders and contracts.
- Reviews budget reports for accuracy and identify variances
- Updates weekly gaming tax reports and verifies calculations.
- Collaborates with audit staff to research and resolve variances.
- Oversees physical inventory and conduct periodic reconciliations.
- Reviews monthly fleet and vehicle logs for accuracy and compliance.
- Embraces additional responsibilities to support the Commission’s evolving needs.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in public or business administration, accounting, or any discipline related to the work assigned. One year of experience in administrative, business management or technical support work including collecting and interpreting statistical, financial, program, or administrative data; or interpreting laws, rules, regulations, and processes. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with the State’s JD Edwards Enterprise One or similar application. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Other: This job requires regular, reliable onsite attendance. **NRGC employees are prohibited from gambling or placing a wager in any establishment licensed by the Commission.**
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Ability to interpret and apply fiscal policies, regulations, and state accounting guidelines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, accounting software, and common office technology.
- Ability to manage recurring financial processes and meet established deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
