About this role
Job Summary
The Accounting Intern supports the financial operations of Facilities Management by ensuring accurate billing, record keeping, and reporting. This role is responsible for account reconciliation and budget oversight, and plays a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of Facilities Management’s operating budgets.
Primary Responsibilities (65%)
- Prepare monthly billings, which include lease, fuel, vehicle rental and work order billings.
- Pull and review financial reports to identify discrepancies or errors.
- Investigate incorrect charges and resolve issues.
- Prepare and process journal entries.
- Track contracts, associated expenses, and invoices
- Conduct asset inspections and maintain accurate asset records.
- Enter data and maintain accurate records in spreadsheets and databases.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Prepare reports, charts and graphs to support informed decision-making.
- Maintain organized records and documentation.
Student Supervision (25%)
- Oversee and manage daily tasks of student employees to ensure productivity and accountability.
- Assign projects and monitor progress to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Mentor, coach and provide constructive feedback to support technical and professional development.
- Design and conduct training programs to build technical and professional skills.
- Promote lifelong work habits such as integrity, dependability, effective communication, and professionalism.
General Duties (10%)
- Provide support to the front office customer service desk as needed.
- Attend regular staff meetings and required training.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor by providing regular updates on assigned tasks, progress, and any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Collaborate and communicate clearly with fellow employees, supervisors, maintenance technicians, contractors, and campus personnel to ensure efficient facility operations and support.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.
Work Experience
Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, data entry, or office support is preferred but not required.
Basic experience with financial or database systems is also preferred but not required.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to analyze data and identify discrepancies.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Hourly Rate:
$18.50
