About this role
Summary: The intern program is designed to provide students with meaningful work experiences, on the job training, and ongoing personal development. Responsible for entire A/P process from receipt of invoice to its payment, generating AIR statements for our dealerships, and generating associated journal entries.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assist department on process improvement projects, such as updating the Treasury management system with all outstanding debt and transitioning asset records to a new fixed asset system
- Assisting corporate consolidated financial reporting team with financial statement preparation process
- Review lease contracts and populate lease accounting system with contractual terms
- Assisting with account reconciliations, journal entries and other financial close tasks as requested
- Completes special projects as directed by the Vice President or other department Managers or Supervisors
- Prepares correspondence, reports, and other documents as assigned
- Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area
- Participates in required training
- Records all hours worked accurately in company timekeeping system

- Observes all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.

Education/Experience:
A desire to learn the automotive industry. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required. Previous experience in an accounts payable or general accounting role. Working knowledge of GAAP. Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Certificates and Licenses:
o Valid Driver’s License
o Automobile Salesperson License
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products. Ability to learn the Accounts Payable subledger system and General Ledger system and additional web based applications utilized in operations or accounting.
Communication Skills:
Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with company personnel, financial institution personnel, and external auditors.
Attendance Expectations:
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel.
Environment Demands:
Duties are performed primarily at a desk in an office environment. Work includes frequent clerical and administrative assignments and interaction with office and company personnel.
Verbal and Writing Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and
memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations.
