Summary
The Accounting Specialist develops, interprets, and implements complex financial and accounting concepts, or techniques for financial planning and control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Completes monthly billing to the government or prime contractor on various contract types: Fixed Price, Cost Reimbursable, Time & Materials
· Completes monthly project financial reporting requirements to include, but not limited to Contract Deliverables (CDRLS), Funds and Man-Hours Expenditure Reports (FMERS), and Estimates-At-Completion (EAC/ETC).
· Analyzes financial information & labor hour utilization to determine present and future financial performance.
· Updates specialized reports for Program Management Offices for use in analyzing current costs/utilization and forecasts for future requirements.
· Responsible for reviewing all contract modifications to verify contract value and funding portion is correct, and will also track contract modifications and update Costpoint contract value and funded as needed.
· Reviews costs for contract allowability.
· Responsible for adding/updating Costpoint Projects as needed for contracts supported to include updating and monitoring Project Workforce
· Prepares monthly labor accruals as needed
· Reviews & processes subcontractor invoices as needed
· Reviews travel expense reports to ensure costs meet contractual requirements and that proper charge codes have been applied.

Education and/or Experience
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 months related experience helpful.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
Government contracting experience preferred.
Ability to demonstrate discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality a must.
Ability to maintain high level of attention to detail required.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of Deltek software (CostPoint, Time & Expense) helpful. Proficiency in MS Excel is required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week and offers a flexible work schedule Monday through Friday during core business hours.
