Description of Work

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Management Preferences:

  • Documented knowledge of general accounting practices.

  • Documented working knowledge using Microsoft Excel.

  • Documented knowledge of E-Procurement, NCFS and/or another accounting system.

Salary Range: $35,596.00 - $62,294.00

This position is located at Dan River Prison Work Farm in Blanch, NC (Caswell County) a minimum custody male facility and reports directly to the Administrative Officer. The Accounting Tech II will supervise the Offender Trust Fund, Mail Room and Records Room. This position is responsible for accurately performing accounting work involving the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data. The Accounting Tech’s II primary responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and processing documents such as expense vouchers, invoices and purchase orders.

  • Reconciling financial statements, ledger, billing, receipts, deposits, expenditures, posting, balancing, control and preparation of financial reports.

  • Maintaining accounts and general fiscal records for a small or general fund activity, detailed subsidiary ledgers for a major division of a large department, or perform a more limited variety of bookkeeping as a part of the total accounting process of a moderate size accounting unit.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week).  The selected candidate will work Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Hours may vary at times depending on the business needs of the facility. 

Dan River Prison Work Farm is in Blanch, NC. The facility sits on a 187.5-acre site in the north-central area of Caswell County and houses felon and misdemeanant minimum custody adult male offenders. Work assignments include food service, maintenance, janitorial and other institutional jobs. Other assignments include maintenance work at Caswell Correctional Center and the offender construction program.

Minimum Education and Experience
