Job Description
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, expense reports and vendor payments. This role manages daily AP operations, supervises, and develops 4 AP specialists. In addition, they maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to all company policies and accounting standards. The AP manager partners closely with the finance managers, senior accountants, and the operations team to optimize payment process, strengthen vendor relationships, support financial close activities and drive process improvements through automation and operational efficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, coding, approval routing, and payment processing
- Ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and expense reimbursements
- Monitor payment schedules to optimize cash flow while meeting vendor obligations
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and payment issues in a timely manner
- Maintain vendor master data and ensure data accuracy
- Lead, coach, and develop the 4 accounts payable specialist
- Manage workload distribution and ensure adequate coverage for AP operations
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations
- Ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements including 1099 reporting.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
- Assist with cash forecasting and working capital management
Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience
- 2-5+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Experience with Workday ERP system, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint
- Experience managing high-volume invoice processing environment and working in a fast paced environment
