Position Duties

Job Description

Under general supervision, performs paraprofessional accounting and fiscal control functions, such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll preparation, budget monitoring or related general accounting processes.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish and maintain receivables or payables in TeamWorks Financials.
  • Prepare and track customer invoices, collecting balances due on outstanding invoices.
  • Record cash daily bank deposits and ensure that cash receipts and payments are recorded timely.
  • Research receipts and ensure receipts are posted to the correct accounts.
  • Use Excel to produce reports to be imported into TeamWorks.
  • Participate in Workday training for a successful transition from PeopleSoft (TeamWorks) ERP.

This is the entry/training level of the accounting technician job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in all or some of the job responsibilities. There is the opportunity to telework in this position.

Physical Requirements:

The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required. 


Work Environment:

This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other professionals. 


NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.



Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Accounting Technician 1 ($42,703.38 - $48,000)

Associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related area from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of job-related experience in accounting, billing, or collection systems.


Accounting Technician 2 ($46,245.72 - $50,000)

Associate’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related area from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of job-related accounting or fiscal experience; or one (1) year of experience at the lower-level Accounting Technician 1 (FIT020).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess one or more of the following:

  • Experience processing accounts receivables or payables
  • Experience using TeamWorks Financials (formerly PeopleSoft)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
