About the Department


Promotes student learning in STEM-career oriented COL-101 College Skills courses by communicating course content through a variety of teaching strategies, facilitating student engagement across au assigned learning environments (on-campus, online, and/or virtual). Teaches meta-cognitive awareness and the skills needed for life-long learning and uses the learning management system (LMS) and other technologies to enhance instruction; aligns activities and assessments with course objectives and student learning outcomes; provides timely feedback that promotes continuous improvement; uses student evaluations for ongoing self-assessment and instruction improvement. May teach in the day or evening, on campus or via alternate delivery methods (i.e. internet, hybrid, etc.).

Position Duties

Bachelor' s degree and work experience in a field of study.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or Master's degree in a discipline taught in the MTC School of STEM or earned doctorate or master's degree with 18 hours of coursework in a discipline taught in the MTC School of STEM. Knowledge of academic management, positive interpersonal skills, and effective and correct oral and written communication skills. Knowledge in the following areas: Principles and procedures pertaining to higher education, especially teaching methodologies; standard business practices and accepted protocol for areas of responsibility; and college mission, goals and objectives. Professional Certification and/or Licensure and Industrial and/or teaching experience.

Other Qualifications

Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $2,914.65 per three-credit-hour course. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
