OUR MISSION
Our mission is to ensure the physical, operational, and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes. We accomplish this mission by working with local, regional, state, and federal partners to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction.
OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE
This position provides advanced-level administrative and operational support to the Regional Director, requiring a high degree of independence, discretion, and coordination across multiple departments and external agencies. The role is critical to maintaining efficient executive operations, ensuring timely communication, and supporting leadership with accurate reporting and documentation.
The position also supports emergency activation functions, requiring the ability to operate effectively in time-sensitive and high-pressure environments.
AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:

Position Duties
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

Job Duties:
This position provides high-level administrative, coordination, and reporting support to the Regional Director of the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East, a $95 million regional public agency responsible for levee management, storm risk reduction, and emergency response during hurricane and severe weather events.
The position is responsible for drafting reports, preparing executive correspondence, coordinating interdepartmental communication, and assisting with administrative support functions related to emergency activation and executive operations.
Manage and coordinate the Regional Director’s calendar, meetings, and scheduling priorities.
Draft and prepare correspondence, memoranda, reports, and briefing materials.
Track assignments and follow-up items to ensure timely completion.
Prepare executive meeting summaries, action-item documentation, and follow-up readbacks to ensure clarity of direction and accountability.
Schedule and coordinate meetings with external agencies, including parish officials and other governmental entities.
Support executive-level documentation, situation reporting, and coordination during emergency activation under the direction of the Regional Director.
Monitor recurring reporting deadlines and ensure required documentation is submitted timely.
Appointment Type: This appointment type can be filled as Probational, Promotional, Lateral Transfer, Detail to Special Duty, or Job Appointment.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
