About this role

About the Department

Provides general administrative support to District Clerk Administration.  Assists in receiving incoming telephone calls and directing people to the appropriate department.  Completes assigned projects, reports, and specified duties to assist in the operation of District Clerk Administration.

Position Duties

  1. Provides information and referrals for the main District Clerk’s Office line.
  2. Directs telephone calls to appropriate staff members and takes messages as necessary.
  3. Acts as a receptionist.  Provides information and referral to the public.
  4. Researches client information for district court cases.
  5. Assists with setup and closures of District Clerk Subscriber Access (DCSA) accounts.   Advises file desk and accounting with posting and refunding payments receipted through Certified Payments or mailed check for DCSA accounts.  Submits adjustment requests to accounting for accounts with payments in arrears.
  6. Prepares and completes DCSA reports.
  7. Prepares application packets for applicants.  Distributes application packets to interview panel.
  8. Schedules appointments for applicants.
  9. Performs clerical duties such as classifying, consolidating, summarizing, sorting, filing, copying, data entry, and distributing.
  10. Processes and sorts mail for delivery to District Clerk downtown locations.
  11. Maintains case file system and distributes case file requests to research queue.
  12. Assists with maintaining staff SAP spreadsheet.
  13. Performs all other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.  
  • Three (3) years of general clerical experience working with the public including two (2) years of answering multi-line telephones and performing data entry.  
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills are necessary to interface with the general public and Tarrant County employees.  
  • Ability to answer multi-line phone.  
  • Knowledge of personal computers and keyboarding as well as typing and data entry skills.  
  • Knowledge of office equipment.  
  • Must recognize the value of team dynamics, exhibit a professional demeanor, and possess problem solving and time management skills.  
  • Must have the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.

Other Qualifications

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb ladders, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, perform repetitive tasks, see near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, use his/her hands, walk, and work alone and with others.
