About the Department

Are you interested in supporting a fast-paced government communications office in an agency that serves all Pennsylvanians? The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PAPUC) is seeking an organized, tech-savvy, high-functioning information sharer, self-starter and office wiz to support important travel and training functions; administer and plan Consumer Advisory Council meetings; handle purchases, contracts and subscriptions; track the office budget that supports public input hearing staffing; and provide additional staff support.

 

Position Duties

This role provides essential administrative and logistical support that helps the Office of Communications operate smoothly and effectively. It supports a wide range of tasks that assist media specialists, consumer educators, communications technology experts, and internal messaging professionals in their daily work. As an Administrative Officer 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Council Support: Prepare agendas and minutes and coordinate administrative tasks for the Consumer Advisory Council
  • Purchasing Duties: Manage a purchasing card and prepare requisitions for office needs
  • Multimedia Assistance: Provide audio visual and multimedia support for hearing rooms and events
  • Directory Maintenance: Maintain the employee photo directory to ensure accurate and updated records
  • Travel Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison for travel arrangements and approvals
  • Office Administration: Coordinate scheduling, timekeeping, filing, copier use, and general office support tasks


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: Part-time work from home (telework) may be a potential feature of this position. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.
    • To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must meet the following requirements: 
      • Within a reasonable travel distance of headquarters; and 
      • Within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in varied office management or staff work; and bachelor's degree; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
