About this role

About the Department

Enter and retrieve all data on the computer. Maintain all department records. Compose and compile financial reports to the County Auditor. Direct all callas by phone and/or radio dispatch. Maintain and disburse department, plaintiff and attorney funds. Utilize verbal and written communication skills to perform duties.

Position Duties

1. Contacts the District Clerk, County Clerks and Tarrant County Family Clerks for preparation of civil and criminal court papers
2. Makes daily rounds to the District Clerk, Family Clerk, County Clerk and the TCSO to receive civil and criminal process from each department
3. Routes and assigns court papers on a daily basis to each Constable precinct
4. Sorts and records court papers received through the mail; maintains accurate records of the same
5. Records checks and issues receipts for monies collected
6. Enters papers received for distribution and all papers returned by other precincts into the computer tracking system
7. Delivers court documents to various constables and JP precincts daily
8. Receives (high volume) phone inquires from Tarrant County, statewide and out of state personnel requesting status and location of court papers that have been assigned to the eight (8) Tarrant County Constables
9. May assist with data entry of court papers for other Constable precincts
10. Maintains detailed records of court papers received at the Constable's Office via mail and walk-in
11. Compiles monthly and year-end reports
12. Dispatches calls and maintains radio log with deputies in the field
13. Assists walk-ins
14. Assigns priorities to legal documents according to court dates
15. Maintains SOF operating procedures
16. Performs all other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of work experience; legal research skills.
  • Clear criminal record, NCIC/TCIC Certified.
  • Knowledge of criminal and civil law.
  • Accounting, Excel, Computer, Math, Typing, Police Radio Dispatch and Public Relations skills.
  • Must be bondable.

Other Qualifications

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, walk and lift. Requires work both indoors and outdoors, picking up and delivering court documents.
