This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29303.

Under limited supervision, perform a variety of duties involved in organizing and maintaining files. This position is responsible for imputing data for the FOCUS grant.  This employee must take initiative to learn job duties and recognize when assistance is necessary.  Must be willing to contribute whenever and wherever as necessary. All duties are handled in a culturally sensitive manner.  Follows all SAMHC Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities for the Administrative Specialist II:

  • Serve as Administrative Assistant to FOCUS program and Project Director. Maintain all clinical staff schedules. Establish and maintain record pertaining to FOCUS grant. Assist PD with weekly team meeting agencies as needed. Maintain enough FOCUS program materials in the waiting room. Also, maintain FOCUS program packets for Project Director to take for all meetings as needed. Oversee the sufficiency of the office supplies. Establish and maintain records pertaining to the FOCUS grant.

  • Input client records into SPARS as required as required by the FOCUS Grant. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal Corporate Compliance laws and in accordance with all DoFS policies and procedures. Conduct all prior authorizations for any service needed.

  • Assist and direct all patients/clients in the CAFE lobby. Ensure that visitors are signed in and informed of CAFE process. Verify person are presently open in EMR. Verify all demographics. Assist with safety and evacuation procedures as needed.

Position Duties

A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Other Qualifications

Post hire, employees must:

  • Successfully complete the Basic Fundamentals course with a minimum grade of 75. 
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
