- Communicates human resource policies and procedures to staff.
- Manage FMLA and other paid and/or unpaid leaves for district staff.
- Assists in the maintenance of job descriptions and personnel files, including leave, benefits, and compliance with HR policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain the classified employee seniority list and investigate and correct discrepancies if reported.
- Assist with the monthly preparation of HR board agenda items.
- Assist with the hiring process and manage classified substitute, supplemental, and other as-needed positions, screening, onboarding, and annual intent of employment.
- Provides guidance to candidates on licensing and certification requirements and tracks employee credentials
- Handles administrative tasks, such as processing requisitions, scheduling appointments, and maintaining records
- Assists with onboarding, offboarding, employee training and development programs, and assists with maintaining HR information systems
- Coordinates and facilitates various HR initiatives, such as new hire orientation, employee engagement programs, and performance management
- Oversee the background check process for all district staff, including supplemental positions and classified substitutes.
- Receive, track and process certified and classified tuition reimbursement requests and year-end payout.
- Complete verification of employment requests (written and verbal) for current and prior district employees.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist in absence management software administration: run reports, manage substitutes, monitor absences, update information, and answer questions as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources
- Maintain the confidentiality of information that is not public domain.
- Provide administrative support to other departments as needed.
- Participate in training sessions as needed to stay current with technology and office practices.
- Observe all safety and health regulations of the school district.
- Maintain an appropriate personal appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
- High School diploma.
- Prior experience in an administrative or support role.
- Alternative to the above qualifications, as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Competence with computers and office machines, and a willingness to continuously upgrade those skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all staff.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly and to accept new and challenging tasks as they arise.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in the presence of frequent interruptions.
