Position Title: Junior Systems Engineer
Job Summary:
The Junior Systems Engineer will be involved in the maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of z/OS environments, contributing to the overall efficiency and performance of our mainframe systems. In this role, the Junior Systems Engineer will develop their skills in mainframe systems programming and support.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the z/OS systems.
- Support ongoing system operations, including performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with senior programmers and IT staff to resolve system issues and implement solutions.
- Participate in system upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
- Participate in the development of proposals and presentations to management and clients.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Learn and apply best practices for system security and user access management.
- Assist in the identification of additional service opportunities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to our clientele.
- Work with clients and Pellera team to ensure the solution meets the client’s business objectives.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in mainframe technologies.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Ability to work with project teams, account teams, and customers to provide industry-best professional services.

- Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to follow processes and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail
- Must have the ability to multi-task.
- Must have familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products.
Education and Experience:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of two years z systems programming expertise is required. That experience can include coursework and study, but at least one year must have been spent in a systems programming role.
- Familiarity with at least one z environment (z/OS, z/VSE, or z/VM) is required.
- Familiarity with z-related ISV products is a plus.
- Experience in customer-facing environments with good presentation skills is a plus.
- IBM or other appropriate vendor certifications are desired.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
