Position Summary:

At the direction of the MRO Supervisor, and working as part of a team that includes Engineering and Quality Departments, the MRO Technician is responsible for properly repairing aircraft parts in accordance with specifications. While an experienced MRO Tech would be ideal, this is also a position for which people with strong mechanical aptitude, some background in working with their hands, and an ability to learn, can be trained.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.
  • Repairs aircraft and bonded structures according to blueprints and specifications
  • Reads and interprets blueprints in order to determine type of repair and tools required
  • Examines structure to determine location, nature, and extents of defect or damage
  • Manufactures bonded structures in accordance with engineering drawings, process specifications, and planning documents.
  • Fabricates, assembles, reworks and repairs bonded structures
  • Assembles aircraft parts following blueprints and specifications.
  • Lay-up of composite & metal bond structures
  • Composite tear down, lay-up, bag & assembly of panels
  • Part traceability

  

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Communication, verbal and written (English)
  • Strong aptitude at working with hands, building, repairing, etc.
  • Measure: read scales, calipers and tape measures
  • Organizes, plans, prioritizes & completes work on time
  • Paperwork precision and accuracy
  • Power tool proficiency: band saws, drill presses, riveters, pneumatic press, etc
  • Hand tool proficiency: drills, routers, manual rivet squeeze, knives, etc.)
  • Read and interpret technical documents (dwgs, specs, M&P etc.)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds and spend considerable time on feet

 

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 0 – 5 years experience as MRO mechanic
  • Aerospace experience preferred but not required
