Job Summary
Langan is seeking an AI Engineer to join its collaborative team in Dallas, TX. This individual will serve a key function in experimenting with emerging techniques, rapidly prototyping solutions, validating value through pilots, and scaling successful concepts into reliable, production-ready systems. In this role, you will have the opportunity to design, build, and deploy full-stack AI applications that solve real engineering and business challenges.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines in Python and/or Node.js that power AI-driven applications at scale;
- Build and ship responsive, user-centered front-end applications using React and modern JavaScript, with a focus on performance, accessibility, and intuitive design;
- Architect and optimize LLM-powered features on Azure OpenAI, including prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, tool/function calling, and fine-tuning, to deliver reliable, production-quality AI capabilities;
- Lead rapid prototyping efforts (spikes, proofs-of-concept, and MVPs) to de-risk ideas, demonstrate feasibility, and accelerate adoption of high-impact AI capabilities;
- Bridge the gap between AI model capabilities and real-world user needs, translating ambiguous requirements into well-scoped, high-impact product features;
- Partner with engineers, project managers, and discipline leads across Langan to surface high-value AI integration opportunities and scope technically sound solutions;
- Proactively identify and prototype automation opportunities that reduce manual burden on engineering teams and accelerate project delivery;
- Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, translating system performance, model behavior, and technical tradeoffs into actionable insights for leadership;
- Work on multiple project timelines simultaneously; and
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. Advanced degree is preferred;
- Internship experience in software engineering or applied AI roles;
- Hands-on proficiency with Python and/or JavaScript (Node.js), React, and the Azure ecosystem (Azure OpenAI, Azure Functions, App Services). Familiarity with ML libraries such as LangChain or similar frameworks is a plus;
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate implementation, improve code quality, and support documentation;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities; and
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
