The Role

We are seeking an AI Scientist I who will work collaboratively with product, clinical, and engineering teams to identify opportunities, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions and products that impact healthcare delivery and improve health outcomes for our members.

As an AI Scientist I, you will be instrumental in solving complex problems using data-driven approaches, conducting rigorous analysis, and building predictive models. You'll contribute to our mission by transforming raw data into actionable insights, driving innovation, and shaping the future of healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize opportunities to apply AI/ML to solve healthcare problems and improve member outcomes.
  • Clean, transform, and preprocess large datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and suitability for modeling.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, identify anomalies, and generate hypotheses.
  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning models, algorithms, and deep learning solutions using appropriate frameworks and tools.
  • Validate, test, and fine-tune models to optimize performance, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Work with product teams to integrate AI/ML models and algorithms into our products and services.
  • Monitor and maintain deployed AI/ML models to ensure their continued effectiveness and performance.
  • Research and stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML, particularly in the healthcare domain, and evaluate their potential application at Cambia.
  • Document methodologies, code, and results comprehensively for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, clinical, and business stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Communicate complex AI/ML concepts and results to technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Adhere to ethical AI principles and ensure data privacy and security in all AI/ML initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Relevant experience in an AI/ML role, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, deep learning, natural language processing, and statistical modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, pandas, numpy) or R.
  • Experience with data manipulation, analysis, and visualization tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with complex, unstructured datasets.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
