May start and administer intravenous fluids and medications after successful completion of approved UT Southwestern IV course and skills verification with the exception of intravenous push medications. %3C/li%3E%0A%3Cli%3ECollects information and data that can assist the physician or Registered Nurse in triaging patient phone calls following departmental protocols and documents actions in patients%27 electronic medical record. %3C/li%3E%0A%3Cli%3ETakes, records, and reports patient vital signs using medical equipment; performs procedures of low complexity such as serial specimen samples, drawing blood from heparin lock, venipuncture, and specimen collection and handling. %3C/li%3E%0A%3Cli%3EDocuments patient care interventions and education in electronic medical records; ensures appropriate patient consent forms and authorizations are obtained for research and/or medical treatment. %3C/li%3E%0A%3Cli%3EInspects equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning. %3C/li%3E%0A%3Cli%3EMaintains adequate stock of supplies on carts and in patient exam rooms as required.
