About this role

Summary:
The Analyst, Budget, performs a variety of professional level budgeting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying, and reconciling the district's budget.


DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must:

Responsibilities:
· Assists in the compilation, analysis, maintenance, and evaluation of the district's budget.

· Analyzes, monitors, and corrects financial and budgetary data in the enterprise reporting system.

· Analyzes and compares budget to include personnel and non-personnel expenses.

· Assists in the preparation and presentation of budget reports.

· Receives, deposits, and monitors cash transactions, if applicable.

· Assists in the writing and publication of district budget documents.

· Maintains and updates budget department procedures and processes.

· Provides cost center assistance to schools and other divisions as needed in a professional manner.

· Assists staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.

· Assists in preparing monthly budget amendments for presentation to the school board.

· Prepares spreadsheets and journal vouchers and uploads them into the enterprise reporting system.

· Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.

· Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.

· Develops internal controls for investments and operations.

· Creates ad-hoc reports as needed.

· Supervises staff as assigned.

· Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, including uploading and downloading data.

· Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in government accounting or budgeting can substitute for degree.

Language Skills: Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents. Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community. Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.

Mathematical Skills: Calculates figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 10 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3, moderate.
