 The School Performance Review Analyst performs high level research and analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of school district’s educational, financial, and operational processes. Analysts review data, interview school district personnel, observe school operations, and prepare detailed reports with findings and actionable recommendations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, optimize resource allocation, and support district decision-making. Analysts may plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. Travel is required and varies by project.  

 The position reports to the School Performance Review Manager and works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Position Duties

  • Evaluate school district programs and operations for inefficiencies, compliance with laws and regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and performance gaps.
  • Interview school district personnel to gather information on program operations.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and nonbiased reports that contain findings and recommendations for school districts to improve or initiate changes that produce efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Present reports to various legislative and public entities.
  • Request data and information from various entities, independently analyze and interpret data, develop recommendations for school district action, and concisely report the results in a format appropriate for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Apply knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to public education and school districts.
  • Contribute to agency projects and perform related work as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Communicate professionally in writing and orally (including presentations in formal and informal settings).
  • Create timely, relevant, accurate, and polished work products.
  • Use business software successfully (i.e. Word, Excel, and customized applications,).
  • Analyze, synthesize, and summarize quantitative and qualitative information, including the ability to synthesize large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Identify alternatives and make recommendations supported with evidence.
  • Willing and able to travel for one to two weeks at a time up to three times a year.
  • Maintain confidential and sensitive information and follow agency protocols.
  • Work at a computer and desk for extended periods of time.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.
  • Course-work or degree in public policy or administration, program evaluation, quantitative/qualitative research, educational measurement/research, financial analysis, accounting, auditing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience auditing or evaluating programs and operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistical software and tools (e.g., Excel, Python, SAS, or R) is preferred.
  • Experience working in public school districts is preferred.
  • Two years of progressively responsible full-time work experience is preferred.
