Job Description
You will be the Analytical Laboratory Manager for the brand new Energetics Laboratory in Troy, AL. Our team provides high quality analytical chemistry support for energetic material programs, ensuring safety, compliance and rapid, reliable data for engineers and scientists across the enterprise.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Analytical Laboratory Manager you will build and lead a multidisciplinary group of chemists and technicians, develop and enforce SOPs, and oversee day to day operations. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists and other lab staff to design experiments, troubleshoot issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, organized work environment. Your responsibilities will include
• Oversee all laboratory activities and ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting
• Train, mentor, and supervise chemist and laboratory technicians, providing guidance and feedback to ensure their success
• Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure that all laboratory activities are performed in accordance with these procedures
• Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training and development opportunities for laboratory employees
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other laboratory staff to design and implement experiments, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable measurements
• Document all experimental data, observations, and results in a clear and concise manner, and prepare technical reports as needed
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the field of analytical chemistry and instrumentation technologies
• Ensure that all laboratory activities are performed in a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring that materials are properly stored and within their expiration dates
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of new laboratory methods and procedures

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic Qualifications
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a laboratory setting, experience with energetic materials preferred
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with a proven track record of managing and mentoring chemists and laboratory technicians
• In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and procedures for handling and testing energetic materials
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation, including spectroscopy, chromatography, thermal analysis and physical property testing
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality
• Flexibility to work in shifts and /or on weekends, as required
• Some domestic travel may be required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance (Not required to start); so U.S. Citizenship is required
Desired skills
• Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical devices)

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
