About this role

As a beverage-focused application engineer in the Regal Rexnord conveying team, you will serve as the technical liaison for the valued and highly valued customers, district managers and customer service representatives who contact you for assistance. This will involve translating customer drawings, specifications, and detailed requests into product solutions that meet the customer’s application needs. In this role, you will create quote and selection tools, technical sales documents & presentations, and training material to educate end users, distributors and colleagues about our product offering and selection.

Application Engineers frequently travel to customer and distributor sites to introduce new products, discuss application solutions, troubleshoot installations, create complete product BOMs, and support our sales team. You will handle technical complaints, which may involve recommending product selections or running chain pull calculations to differentiate between application concerns and potential quality issues. You will be a source for new product development as you engage with end users and OEMs to create novel solutions in the beverage market. Lastly, application engineering is integral in product line simplification as we merge together two large conveying suppliers into one material solutions provider.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support sales in project/product discussions, product introductions, and provide technical recommendations
  • Give technical advisement to colleagues (customer service and sales), distributors, OEMs, end users, etc, via phone/email. On-site visits are common within the contiguous United States and Canada
  • BOM development and budgetary estimates based on customer specifications
  • Involvement & alignment with key beverage OEMs & Customers to collaborate in component specifications and new product development
  • Cooperate and communicate with sales about new business opportunities, application solutions, training, lunch & learns, etc.
  • Make slide decks about our products/applications/projects and present them online or on-site
  • Cooperate in the creation of documents and programs concerning the conveying products and their appropriate usage. Including, but not limited to: Product Catalog (Smart Guide), engineering manual, case histories, calculation software, declarations/certificates, etc.
  • Investigate claims (visiting customer sites if necessary) at the request of sales, quality control, R&D, production, external laboratories, etc. Site visits will often include detailed reports with observations, actions taken, conclusions and advice
  • Perform line audits and support our Premium Service offering on topics like run-dry, BOM development, cleaning optimization, etc.
  • Research new technologies in the market and report interesting opportunities for development. This may include initiating ideas for new products and improvement of existing products, building them through product engineering, design, and R&D to realize the project
  • Collect reference information on site, as much as possible supported by pictures/video, to develop recommendations and solutions to application concerns
  • Participate in exhibitions and trade shows as necessary
  • Training of new colleagues in sales, customer service and engineering roles
  • Support sales, new hire, and training initiatives with our distribution partners
  • Support plant operations with cost-saving initiatives and a continuous improvement culture
  • Escalate sales opportunities to account executives when discovered
