About this role
As an Application Engineer - Systems Life Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Systems Sales (Outside) Group by leveraging your technical expertise and product knowledge to develop innovative solutions architectures and bills of materials. You will collaborate with various engineering teams, including Systems Engineering, Integration Engineering, Computer System Validation Engineering, and Lifecycle Field Services, to create comprehensive estimates and scope definitions for our proposals. Your deliverables will include professional proposals that clearly define the scope of work and supply, ensuring alignment with our business goals and customer needs.
This position requires you to be an in-house expert on our internal business systems, enabling you to extract data, develop new sales support tools, and keep pricing and other dynamic information current for the sales team. You will build strong relationships with Proconex resources, customers, and suppliers, and occasionally provide support at customer locations for product demonstrations and site walkdowns. Our customers span across enterprise life sciences, energy, oil and gas, wastewater, and specialty gas and chemical industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical advisor to the Systems Sales Group, providing insights on product knowledge, solutions architectures, and bills of materials.
- Develop and review professional proposals that clearly define the proposed scope of work and supply.
- Create accurate proposal pricing spreadsheets or GP sheets, defining sell prices and costs for the proposed scope of work.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Integration Engineering, Computer System Validation Engineering, and Lifecycle Field Services organizations to develop estimates and scope definitions.
- Maintain and update internal business systems to extract data, develop new sales support tools, and keep pricing information current.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Proconex resources, customers, and suppliers.
- Provide support at customer locations for product demonstrations and/or site walkdowns as needed.
Job Requirements:
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Technical field.
- No specific years of experience are required; however, the ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and other documents is essential.
- Technical industrial experience in an engineering capacity is a plus.
Key Competencies:
- Outstanding written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn systems is required.
- Familiarity with DeltaV, Windows Server, Network switches, ROC, Controlwave PAC, SCADA, Emerson AMS, PLC, Syncade MES, AVEVA-PI, AspenTech, AI, ML, Data Lake, Operational Intelligence, Hardware and Software, and Cybersecurity.
- Broad engineering exposure to hardware design, software configuration, regulatory and batch control, and installation.
Working Conditions:
- Typical hours of operation are 8:30 am - 5:00 pm in a typical hybrid office setting with occasional field visits to customer plants.
- Ability to participate in site walkdowns is beneficial.
- May include light travel and extra hours if needed.
