About this role

Join a team where your engineering expertise directly strengthens the resilience of one of the world's most complex technology environments. At JPMorganChase, resiliency isn't a checkbox — it's a discipline, and you'll be at the center of it.

As an Assessments & Exercises Vice President- Cloud Resiliency Testing Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Cybersecurity Technology and Controls, you will partner with cloud, cybersecurity, and technology teams across the firm to design realistic disruption scenarios, identify gaps, and implement solutions that measurably improve recovery and resiliency outcomes. You'll bring hands-on engineering depth and the ability to lead from discovery through delivery, working with senior stakeholders to drive adoption and lasting impact. This role offers significant ownership and autonomy, with the opportunity to shape standards and influence outcomes across a large, matrixed organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and execute enterprise-wide cloud resiliency exercises using repeatable scenarios, test harnesses, and standardized metrics to measure readiness and recovery performance
  • Lead adoption of modern resiliency testing approaches across  technology teams and technology teams, including standards, tooling, and operating rhythms.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate synthesis of test evidence and draft executive-ready assessment reporting, validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity and security requirements.
  • Develop and execute scenario-based resiliency testing aligned to Plausible Disruptive Events, and convert findings into prioritized remediation plans with verified closure.
  • Partner with engineering teams to map critical user journeys, service dependencies, and failure domains, then validate behavior under disruption across identity, network, DNS, certificates, data stores, and messaging.
  • Provide subject matter leadership for resiliency programs, shaping standards and implementation guidance that balance firmwide consistency with business unit constraints.
  • Influence and align delivery across teams outside your direct reporting line, using technical credibility, data, and stakeholder partnership to achieve outcomes.
  • Deliver concise, decision-ready updates to senior stakeholders, including risk framing, business impact, remediation options, and progress against agreed milestones.
  • Drives reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted workflows for control evaluation and reporting automation, ensuring results are validated and aligned to security, resiliency, and compliance expectations.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on security and cloud concepts and 5+ years applied experience on engineering experience in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, platform reliability, or cybersecurity engineering.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, building, and operating solutions in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP).
  • Experience designing and executing resiliency, disaster recovery, or failure-based testing exercises for applications and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support assessment workflows (e.g., analysis support and report drafting) with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted findings and remediation recommendations before use, escalating when uncertain and following security and data handling requirements.
  • Strong understanding of cloud and network architecture, including fault domains, failure modes, dependency mapping, and recovery patterns.
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (for example, Terraform) and the ability to implement resiliency controls through automated, repeatable patterns.
  • Experience conducting architecture/design assessments, identifying resiliency and security weaknesses, and driving remediation to verified closure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into prioritized risk and remediation actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment across matrixed teams and understanding of current cyber threats and attack techniques, and how they inform resiliency design and testing priorities.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience leading or supporting disaster recovery and cyber recovery planning, testing, and post-exercise remediation.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tooling to support resiliency engineering tasks, such as generating runbooks, test plans, failure scenarios, scripts, and post-exercise summaries, while applying appropriate validation and secure data handling practices.
  • Experience in security architecture or engineering, including practical familiarity with industry frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, CIS Controls, OWASP, or SANS guidance.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages used for automation and analysis, such as Python, Java, Scala, or Bash.
  • Experience implementing resiliency controls and testing patterns in containerized and orchestration-based environments, such as Kubernetes and experience with observability and incident tooling used to validate resilience outcomes, such as metrics, tracing, logging, synthetic monitoring, and alerting platforms.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and engaging with audit, risk, compliance, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Relevant cloud or security certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CISSP, or CISM.
