Position Summary:
As an Assistive Technology Specialist, you will evaluate students’ needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology devices and services that improve access to learning and participation in the educational environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with educators, therapists, administrators, and families to implement assistive technology solutions, provide training, and monitor student progress.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting Assistive Technology evaluations and developing recommendations
- Collaborating with IEP teams to identify appropriate assistive technology supports and services
- Recommending, implementing, and customizing assistive technology devices and software
- Training students, school staff, and families on the effective use of assistive technology
- Monitoring student progress and modifying recommendations as needed
- Completing documentation, evaluation reports, and service records
- Consulting and collaborating with teachers, therapists, psychologists, and other educational professionals
- Staying current on assistive technology best practices, accessibility tools, and educational technology
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Engineering, Educational Technology, Assistive Technology, or a related field
- Current professional license or certification appropriate to discipline, when applicable
- Experience conducting Assistive Technology evaluations in educational settings preferred
