Associate DevOps Engineer
We are seeking a motivated Associate DevOps Engineer to join our infrastructure team. In this role, you will support the automation, maintenance, and optimization of our CI/CD pipelines and build management systems. You will collaborate closely with development teams to ensure high availability and reliable delivery of our microservices‑based applications within a secure, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
CI/CD Pipeline Support
- Maintain and enhance automated build and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, including Jenkins Pipelines and Shared Libraries.
- Partner with development teams to improve build reliability, deployment automation, and release consistency.
Build & Toolchain Management
- Manage and support build configurations and dependencies within the Atlassian ecosystem (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence).
- Contribute to streamlining development workflows and improving traceability across the software development lifecycle.
Containerization & Orchestration
- Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes across development, staging, and production environments including Helm based deployments.
- Assist with deployments, scaling activities, and troubleshooting containerized services.
Security & Automation
- Help manage and automate SSL/TLS certificate and SSH key lifecycles to ensure secure communication and compliance.
- Follow established security standards and participate in automation efforts that reduce manual risk.
Observability & Monitoring
- Monitor system health and application performance using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) or similar observability tools.
- Assist in log analysis and troubleshooting to support system stability and incident response.
System Administration
- Perform routine Linux server administration, troubleshooting, and basic performance tuning.
- Support infrastructure stability in collaboration with senior engineers.
Scripting & Application Support
- Write and maintain Bash scripts to automate routine operational tasks.
- Support deployment and runtime needs of Java‑based microservices.
Security Clearance Eligibility
- Ability to obtain or maintain a DoD security clearance
Technical Qualifications
Automation
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins (Pipelines, Shared Libraries)
- Experience with Atlassian tools
Orchestration
- Foundational working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (pods, deployments, services)
- Functional working knowledge of Helm Charting
Scripting / Code
- Proficiency in Bash scripting
- Basic familiarity with Java application environments and java development
Operating Systems
- Strong command of Linux/Unix systems and the command line
Security
- Fundamental understanding of the basic security concepts including SCA, SBOMs and vulnerability scans etc.
- Automated certificate management concepts, ssh key management etc.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
DoD / Regulated Environment Experience
- Familiarity with Department of Defense projects, including security requirements such as STIGs and NIST 800‑53
Microservices Architecture
- Understanding of how microservices communicate and operate within containerized clusters
Agile Development
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Experience documenting technical processes using Confluence
Data / Logging
- Experience with MongoDB
- Experience with log aggregation tools such as ELK Stack or Prometheus/Grafana
Work Environment:
- Location: Beavercreek, OH
- Working Hours: 40 hours per week
