About this role
The Steam Generation Projects Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Engineer to lead and support critical projects that enhance the reliability, efficiency, and performance of Con Edisons steam generation assets. This role provides the opportunity to drive innovative engineering solutions, manage complex capital and maintenance projects, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe and reliable plant operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing instrumentation, control, and automation initiatives that contribute to the continued success of Con Edisons energy infrastructure while supporting the companys commitment to operational excellence, safety, and sustainability.

Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of engineering projects from planning through commissioning and closeout.
- Prepare engineering designs, physical layouts, schematics, construction drawings, and cost estimates.
- Develop construction, equipment, and material specifications and review vendor technical submissions.
- Assist with the design and implementation of instrumentation, control, and process systems.
- Support project scoping, budgeting, appropriations, cost reviews, and field evaluations.
- Prepare and maintain engineering, operating, maintenance, testing, and commissioning documentation.
- Assist with Engineering Service Requests (ESRs), including initiation, tracking, and follow-up activities.
- Provide technical support during construction, startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Conduct field investigations, equipment evaluations, and system performance assessments.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, root cause analyses, and corrective action development for plant systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and support organizations to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company requirements while performing engineering assignments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical, Maritime, Electrical or Chemical Engineering and Minimum of two years of relevant work experience, including at least one year of engineering work experience in power systems engineering or operations. or
- Bachelor's Degree in applied science (Physics, Chemistry) with a Master of Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering and Minimum of two years of relevant work experience, including at least one year of engineering work experience in power systems engineering or operations.

- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, required.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with employees at all organizational levels, required.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and engineering software applications, required.
- Ability to lead initiatives independently and provide technical oversight and guidance to department personnel, required.
- Knowledgeable in basic engineering design and principles, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop engineering standards, prepare specifications, and coordinate project activities, preferred.
- Driver's License Required
- Ability to respond to system emergencies
- Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
- Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
- Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
- Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
- Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to travel both regionally and continent-wide, to attend conferences, meetings, etc. as needed.
