About this role

About the Role

The Regulatory team is at the forefront of navigating the complex, fast-moving legal and regulatory landscapes that shape the future of Uber’s Mobility and Delivery business lines. Our mission is to ensure seamless compliance, maintain our operational licenses, and proactively manage relationships with local regulators.

As an Associate Program Manager on the West Regulatory Team, you will act as a critical bridge between our legal experts and regional operations. You will ensure that Uber can continue to scale safely, legally, and efficiently across our Western markets.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of regulatory, legal, and operational projects, including:

  • Regulatory Inquiry & Investigation Management: Project managing, organizing, and maintaining comprehensive responses to regulatory inquiries, data requests, requests for information, internal reviews, and reporting.
  • Compliance & Licensing Research: Assisting the legal team with deep-dive research into local statutes, regulations, and city license requirements to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Public Filings & Submissions: Preparing electronic filings and public comments with local regulators.
  • Certification & Application Oversight: Managing the end-to-end process of obtaining necessary permits.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience in either big firm or in-house legal department
  • Experience in researching statutes and/or regulations is essential
  • B.A./B.S. or paralegal certificate

Preferred Qualifications

  • Protect and Enable the Business: You will have daily opportunities to directly resolve critical regulatory issues that are central to the core health of both the Mobility and Delivery businesses.
  • Drive Operational Excellence: By bringing "obsessive attention to detail" and superior organizational skills, you will shield the team from regulatory risk and ensure our public filings are flawless.
  • Be a Strategic Force Multiplier: As a highly motivated "utility player," your ability to grind through tough problems and seamlessly communicate across teams will allow the West Regulatory region to execute complex compliance projects at a rapid pace
  • Thrive in Ambiguity: Because laws often lag behind tech innovation, you will have a massive impact by confidently navigating gray areas, operating effectively without explicit instructions, and forging a clear path forward where rules may be undefined or evolving.

Responsibilities

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.

You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
