Job Description:

The Test Methods Engineer will determine the most efficient and economical method of performing production testing. Plan and write specification test methods for production testing. Design new test equipment and circuits to meet test specification requirements. Estimate cost of testing and test equipment and assemble test stations. Adapt or modify existing test equipment, including implementing automation to improve accuracy and efficiency. Program and use computers on general and special purpose test equipment for conducting PWA and/or System-level tests.

Essential Functions:

  • Interface with design engineering (hardware, software, & systems) to translate the design into the production test environment to meet specifications.
  • Design, develop, and construct test stations to allow for testing of products.
  • Write test procedures to instruct test operators and provide on the job training to test operators for initial production testing.
  • Support testing of both existing and developmental products, including troubleshooting failures to the component level.
  • Modify existing test equipment to improve efficiency and/or accuracy using various software tools.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience/Educational Qualifications:

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement test software for automated test systems utilized in electronic components manufacturing.
  • Ability to read assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with test systems mechanical rack and component layout design.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to attain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products such as Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with troubleshooting electronics and hardware to the component level.
  • Software development/implementations of test programs using JTAG, C++, LabVIEW or Visual Basic.
  • GenRad In-Circuit test experience.
  • Experience with TestStand.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based project management tools associated with scheduling and cost monitoring.
