Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience practicing trademark law in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience providing pragmatic advice to clients in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Experience and interest in working on intermediary liability issues.
  • Experience and interest with emerging technologies, including the integration of AI into daily practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex issues with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

The Trademark team manages trademark legal matters globally. As a member of our team, you will focus on trademark issues relating to technology, including artificial intelligence. You will be responsible for protecting and defending our trademark portfolio, developing trademark and counterfeit policies for our platforms, and advising product and marketing teams on trademark risks.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $217000 - $314000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Provide trademark advice to marketing, product teams, and others throughout the company.
  • Provide legal counsel on trademark intermediary liability issues, including developing removal policies, advising on removal requests, and counseling product teams.
  • Counsel product teams on the deployment, use, and trademark implications of emerging technologies, including generative AI.
  • Review and manage trademark clearance searches. Register Google’s trademarks globally.
  • Enforce Google’s trademarks around the world and manage contested matters related to trademarks, counterfeits, and domain names.
